Article taken from billboard charts

These ten stars were the best performers on the Hot 100 and the Billboard 200 over the course of the chart year, from Nov. 2008 through Nov. 2009.

1 Taylor Swift
To say Taylor Swift had a remarkable year would be a comic understatement. She sold more albums than any artist not named Michael Jackson. Her first headlining tour, Fearless 2009, sold out every show within minutes. She became the youngest woman to win the Country Music Assn.’s entertainer of the year award, and she set seemingly every chart record that exists. But most important, she proved herself a graceful, timeless celebrity, handling hosting duties on "Saturday Night Live" and a rampaging Kanye West at the MTV Video Music Awards with equal aplomb.

2 Beyonce
As Kanye West infamously pointed out at the 2009 VMAs, Beyonce made one of the best videos of all-time. "Out of all my videos, ("Single Ladies") was the least expensive and took the least amount

of time, and it ended up being the most iconic," Billboard’s 2009 Woman of the Year reflects. "But once we got on the set, it was like, wait a minute. This is something special." Not only did the ubiquitous clip inspire thousands of YouTube imitations, it also helped push her "I Am… Sasha Fierce" album to last over a year on the Billboard 200 chart. list divider

3 Lady Gaga
The chart-topping hit-maker and headline-grabbing fashionista from Yonkers, NY became the first artist ever to send her first four singles to No. 1 on the Billboard Pop Songs chart. What’s her secret? "A hit record writes itself," said the winner of the 2009 Billboard Rising Star award. "If you have to wait, maybe the song isn’t there. Once you tap into the soul, the song begins to write itself. And I usually write the choruses first, because without a good chorus, who really gives a f**k?" list divider

4 The Black Eyed Peas
In 2009, Will.i.am, Fergie, apl.de.ap and Taboo became the first group in history to spend six consecutive months atop the Billboard Hot 100, thanks to the succession of two No. 1s songs ("Boom Boom Pow" and "I Gotta Feeling") from the band’s fifth release, "The E.N.D." — a body of work that Will.i.am refuses to think of in traditional terms. "I’m trying to break away from the concept of an album," he told Billboard. "What is an album when you put 12 songs on iTunes and people can pick at it like scabs? That’s not an album. There is no album anymore." list divider

5 Miley Cyrus
What does Miley Cyrus want to be when she grows up? The 17-year-old superstar, who spent 15 weeks at No. 1 on Adult Contemporary with "The Climb," told Billboard last year, "Songwriting is what I really want to do with my life forever. No matter how long what I’m doing here lasts, I want to be a songwriter for the rest of my life." With the soundtrack to her "Hannah Montana" movie climbing to No. 1 on our Billboard 200 albums chart this spring, we think the queen of the teens is off to a pretty good start.list divider

6 Kanye West
Mr. West is Billboard’s Top Male Artist of 2009; an impressive honor, though after his bullying of Taylor Swift at this year’s VMAs, we suspect he may be a little irked to see her ranked five spots higher than him on this overall artist list. Still, despite his sometimes misplaced enthusiasm, the hip-hop hit-maker never fails to give the fans (and the foes) his all. "I’ve always wanted to sound like I was rapping at the top of a mountain," he told Billboard in 2005. "I wanted to change the sound of music."list divider

7 Britney Spears
After a few tumultuous years that found Spears in the tabloids more often than the charts, Britney redeemed herself with a pair of mega-hit singles — "Womanizer" and "Circus" — from her 2008 comeback album. A successful world tour brought her back to center stage, but the real proof of her rejuvenation was the one-off single "3," which debuted atop the Hot 100 chart in October. Spears was the first artist to enter the chart at No. 1 in more than three years.list divider

8 T.I.
Sadly, T.I. — who has done big things on the Rap Songs chart this year — will be celebrating his 2009 successes behind bars in Forrest City , Arkansas , where he remains imprisoned for federal weapons charges through March 2010. But the Atlanta emcee, who scored two of the biggest hits of his career with "Dead and Gone" and "Live Your Life," is taking his punches in stride. "I must be a man and stand up and accept responsibility," he told B.E.T. in May. "I exercised extremely poor judgment, and for that, I must be willing to pay whatever price that comes before me."list divider

9 Nickelback
Why did the band that sold 7.3 million copies of its 2005 album, "All the Right Reasons," entitle its follow-up "Dark Horse"? "We never feel like we’ll ever be done trying to prove ourselves," Chad Kroeger told Billboard last year. "You really have to keep that initial hunger that made some of your first songs your best songs. You have to keep that fire in the belly."list divider

10 Pink
"’Heartbreak is a Motherf*cker’ is what I originally wanted to name the album," laughed Pink during an interview with Billboard last year when asked about her 2008 release, which was inspired by her split from motocross star Carey Hart. "But this album is not all about that. There is fun happening, too, and that’s why I named it ‘Funhouse’ in the end." The set proved positive in more ways that one; it produced her first solo Hot 100 No. 1, "So What."

InnocentEnglish.com has undertaken the grueling, painful task of going through hundreds, even thousands, of corny, stupid, dumb, mildly amusing, kinda funny and so-bad-they’re-almost-good song titles, in an attempt to find the top twenty worst song titles of all time. Interestingly, the challenging art of coming up with the stupidist song titles ever seems to have been mastered almost exclusively by country artists… luckily Star Radio doesn’t play Country artists (all respect to some great country artists we love).

Some of the worst songs titles are:

1. She Got The Ring And I Got The Finger

2. There Ain’t Enough Room in my Fruit of the Looms to Hold All My Lovin’ for You

3. Get Your Tongue Outta My Mouth ‘Cause I’m Kissing You Goodbye

4. If I Can’t Be Number One In Your Life, Then Number Two On You

5. I’ve Been Flushed From The Bathroom Of Your Heart

6. If I Had Shot You When I Wanted To, I’d Be Out By Now

7. Get Your Biscuits In The Oven And Your Buns In Bed

8. Gave Her My Heart And a Diamond And She Clubbed Me With a Spade

9. If You Can’t Live Without Me, Why Aren’t You Dead Yet?

10. Mama Get The Hammer (There’s A Fly On Papa’s Head)

11. It’s Hard to Kiss the Lips at Night that Chew Your Ass Out All Day Long

12. I’m The Only Hell Mama Ever Raised

13. She Got The Gold Mine and I Got The Shaft

14. I Wouldn’t Take Her To a Dog Fight, Cause I’m Afraid She’d Win

15. They May Put Me In Prison But They Can’t Stop My Face From Breaking Out

16. Drop Kick Me, Jesus, Through The Goalposts Of Life

17. I Just Fell In Something and I Sure Hope It’s Love

18. I’m So Miserable Without You, It’s Like Having You Here

19. If My Nose Were Full of Nickels, I’d Blow It All On You

20. C’mon Down off the Stove, Granny, You’re Too Old to Ride the Range

Karl wolf storms back on the music scene with his hit new album Nightlife! The album includes the hit singles “Yalla Habibi”, Carerra (2009 remix) as well as “Africa” as bonus track.

The Karl Wolf story:

Though Karl was born in Beirut, Lebanon, to avoid the civil war that the country was facing, his family moved to Dubai when Karl was an infant. From very early on music played a large part in his life. His mother taught the piano and his father played the guitar, drums and a traditional Arabic instrument called the Oud.

This interest quickly blossomed, with Karl becoming a multiple threat! Songwriter, producer, singer, Karl can do it all. Karl started as a producer and was involved with many multi-platinum albums in Canada. These include Gabrielle Destroismaisons, Mitsou, Quebec’s Star Académie and Emily Bégin. Karl then began developing as an artist and was a member of Dubmatique and SKY, both platinum-selling groups. He earned a prestigious Felix Award in 2001 for “Best Mix and Sound of the Year” for his work on Gabrielle Destroismaisons’ Etcetera as well as a SOCAN award in 2004 for “Best Pop Song” for his work on Star Académie I.

As more and more industry insiders began hearing about him or working with him word of his talent began to spread. Artists like Christina Milian, Glenn Lewis and Mya all began asking for material. However, at the time, Karl was busy at work on his first solo album, Face Behind the Face.

Released on Valentine’s Day 2006, Face Behind the Face, turned Karl into an instant Mega-Star in the Middle East and Canada. The album’s first hit Butterflies spent XX weeks at 1. The Canadian remix with Quebec pop-princess Eve rose to 3. The second single Summer Days and Summer Nights in Beirut, which recalls the beauty of Beirut before the civil war, was also a huge success on radio. The third release from the debut album Desensitize was a club smash and a remix with Canadian rapper Choclair can still be heard in clubs around the world.

Face Behind the Face, won Karl a Sounds of Blackness Award (SOBA) in 2007 as the “Best R&B/Soul Artist of the Year” and he was nominated for a 2007 Juno Award (Canada’s music awards) for “Best R&B/Soul Recording.”

The success of Face Behind the Face help develop Karl as an international artist. One of his first international performances after the release of the album was with R&B Queen Mary J. Blidge in Dubai. The release of the second album, Bite the Bullet, has solidified as a major international artist. In the last year alone, with the territorial release of the album, he performed with Lauryn Hill, Neyo, Girlicious, T-Pain, Flo-Rida, Pitbull, Kelly Roland, and Akon. He also shared the stage with both Ludacris and Akon at MTV Arabia’s launch event!

In order to maximize each market Karl decided on a territorial release and began releasing the album one territory at a time. The album dropped in stores in the Middle East / North Africa on November 27, 2007, and in many other major markets around the world in 2008 and early 2009.

Karl Wolf was crowned winner of the “MTV Arabia Best New Act” at MTV’s European Music Awards, one of the most prestigious music awards in the world. Fans across the globe voted for the Wolf to represent the Middle East talent at the awards ceremony in Liverpool on November 6th 2008. After returning from a two-week promotional tour to promote his self-titled album in Japan (where Africa went Gold), Karl was very excited about the nomination saying:

His huge success in Japan has catapulted Karl’s musical career into another dimension, having shared the international chart’s top spots with the likes of Madonna and Coldplay. Karl Wolf recently collaborated with rap legend, Snoop Dogg, to release an exclusive online track called “TRIPLE R” which left followers already buzzing about a new album. Fans across the world are hungry for the Wolf!

On February 24th 2009, “Africa” was officially released in Canada, where it became an instant success across the country due to massive radio airplay topped off by TRIPLE PLATINUM status sales with over 130,000 digital downloads in a matter of weeks! The album dropped in stores on April 7th in Canada and has been embraced by thousands of pop and R&B enthusiasts nationwide as well as has allowed him to tour the country alongside heavyweights such as Akon, Flo Rida, Pitbull, Sean Kingston and T-Pain. In summer of 2009, Nightlife was released in the Middle-East and Japan where it had reached the 1 and 2 spots on the International album sales charts, having “Yalla Habibi” as the first single on the album, which instantaneously became an international hit with its crossover appeal. Other than the European and Australian release dates that are to be announced in the very near future, the album is also set to be released on November 17th, 2009 in Canada with very high expectations, as “Yalla Habibi” has already started to make huge noise on all major media channels nationwide. Nightlife has been described by many to be packed with hits so make sure you check it out!

Having taken Turkey by storm on commercial hit radio stations playing alongside the likes of Eminem, Gwen Stefani, Nelly Furtado and Pink reaching a top 13 position on the commercial air play charts, his recent interview with MTV Europe, Metro FM, Jake Wheat on Mad World and many more shows in the USA established him as a TRUE STAR!
