Daniel Craig the 6th James Bond ! I'm shocked !!!

I usually write only about Music News & Events, but I decided to write about the selection of the new James Bond guy because first I'm a big fan (of the movies, not the new guy), and second I'm not really understanding this choice!

So, as you probably already know, Daniel Craig has been confirmed as the newest incarnation of the iconic spy James Bond. "I had a couple of martinis when I found out," Craig told reporters in London after being shuttled down the Thames to a Friday morning news conference by military boat. "It is a huge iconic figure in movie history, and those things don't come along very often," he said. If you ask me, I think it's not only Daniel who drank Martini, but also the director of the series when he selected him !

Barbara Broccoli and Martin Campbell, the producer and director of the upcoming installment to the spy series, called the fair-haired Craig" a superb actor who has all the qualities needed to bring a contemporary edge to the role." To give you my opinion, OK I know he's an actor, but as to superb... we'll see. I personally know not much about this guy, but he doesn't have the looks of a James Bond... at least not the way we've been used to for the first 5 James Bond guys. I don't know; I just don't feel him for this... but of course that's my opinion.

The selection was leaked earlier this week by British tabloids. The choice that shocked me, also shocked British bookmakers, who had favoured more prominent actors such as Jude Law, Clive Owen and Ewan McGregor for the role.

The 37-year-old actor – who has played mostly secondary roles in North American films but is better known in the U.K. – takes over from Irish actor Pierce Brosnan, who has played the special agent in the last four Bond movies. Craig is set to star in Casino Royale, the 21st Bond film scheduled for theatrical release in 2006.

Born in 1968, just as myself, in Chester and raised in Liverpool, - but I wasn't raised in Liverpool ;-) , Craig is well known to Britons for his role as Geordie in the BBC series Our Friends in the North. His film credits include The Power of One, Road to Perdition, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Sylvia, The Jacket and Layer Cake.
